    Question Equipment: Late war officer

    Hello collectors,

mainly I collect artillery-jackets. But actually I have al little larger Project:

With an artillery-leutnants M44-blouse as a base, I try to create a late war front officer (Beobachter).

Actually he is wearing a fieldkoppel, Luftwaffe Y-Straps (I had those and I think they fit an officer a little smarter), a brown P38 Holster, a brown mapcase, a binocular with a front made Camouflage-cover, an MP40 and an Helmet with camouflage-cover.

    I didn't want to spent him a tent-quarter, a gas-mask-canister, a water-bottle…

    Is this authentic?

And my most actually question on that is: Has an officer to wear two MP40-magazine-pouches or is one enough? Is there a regulation on the (weapons-)equipment for an officer?

    I hope for answers…

    Best regards

The real field officer ( not the one who spent mots of the time at desk at rear ) worn mostly the same equipment as soldiers, so gasmask is obvious must have IMO. Same with breadbag and canteen. The tent shelter not necessery, as most of officers were staying at homes or at large tents.

Many officers worn only one MP pouch, as mapcase or side arms would take the place of other pouch.

Excellent photo Naxos - and interesting to see that the officer has chosen to extend his kit to include the bayonet.

        Thanks for sharing!

          Thanks Michael!

I think is serves as a good universal tool in a trench situation. It all depends on the specific situational challenges.

Here an officer with a "Stielhandgranate" in his belt (IR273).
