These markings on the shoulder strap may indicate use by a paramilitary organization.

This stamp inside may indicate a 1939 acceptance date (?).

The inside is very similar to a WWI pack.

Here is a photo (posted on the Forum by another member) of one of these in use by a Heer soldier.

Stamp on the inside. Perhaps a unit stamp for the RAD.

I have some other tornisters and may post some more photos over the next couple of days. Please add your packs to this reference thread. I would like to see some medical examples and really any other packs by other makers. Let's get this thread going and make it a realy useful one. Next week I will be happy to post some other gear, someone else should decide what the next gear item will be.

My M-34 in storage in the States is also this model with the four equipment hangar straps on the outside of the flap. I recall it is dated 1939.

                          Cheers,
                          Johnnie

                            Y strap,

Stunning collection of fur backpacks you have there Chris, a collection within a collection, but to steer this thread in its right direction here something to adjust on of your backpacks to, an Cavalry/Officer/Luftwaffe (whatever you want to call it) Y strap. Nice mid/late war, RF stamped, example which I purchased recently. Perhaps someone could keep up this thread by also adding one of the basic equipment needed by a regular Heeres soldier.
