Also, interesting to note the original posters bino's serial number is within just a few numbers of the ground dug one. It seems the nay sayers owe him a big apology.

Of course that is only a thought and hypothetical weighing of probabilities. NOT A STATEMENT. Very unlikely, but not totally impossible. Definitely not a proof, well maybe excuse for a fishy dealer. Nevertheless if proven true, that would change a lot. So, find a proof and you will have a winner. Maybe other similar binos as well to be more believable.
And to be clear, I don't believe in those binos.

Looks like you got your proof which changes a lot. At least in my eyes. I was suspicious and didn't believe in those binos, but know upon evidence I need to change my position and admit being wrong.
Whoever owns those binos should document shown dugup binos and attach those pictures to them as an evidence of authenticity for any future possible sales.

                          Fantastic collection!

Now I am no expert on this at all, but why would the SS Dienstglas marking be scratched out on a ground dug item?

And also, I notice the other plates with the Vilaba Roma and SS markings are in a remarkably good condition when compared with the other items..

In 1945 it was not very benefiting to be an SS member.....near the city ENNS in Austria was an place where soldiers disarmed and chuck away here stuff in bomb craters.
The digger goes there for awards and in 2004 he found an bomb crater with technical stuff as radios, binoculars and and.
If I compare the shoulder of the tan colored bino to the villaba, I see no different.

More details I didnt know, I got this binos for free because he know I collect binos.
