Thanks, i think those measures are correct, because it makes perfect sense considering how the cells would be connected. In that case Enigma and your battery has six D cells inside - two lines of D cells, both have 3 cells side by side, both three cells in line are in series to get 4.5 volt and then those two lines are in parallel so that the capacity would be doubled but the voltage remains the same.

Well, if the D cells are the same standard as nowadays, would it be OK if I replaced them in my battery and make it functional again? I could even build some repro batteries with a copy of the orignal label, as the torch ones I made.

Yes, they are the exactly the same size nowadays so you can make a nice replica with them. Share the scans of your battery, when you have it. Thanks!

You might try and check out a modern battery manufacturer, like Varta.
They may have batteries that match the space inside the original batteries, and provide even better performance.

Yes, I'll do so. That is my idea for the 4.5v three cell torch batteries also, if I get some origial period batteries. For the moment I have my repro...and even sold 14 to other collectors. I'm studying other models also.

This is also about batteries. Only for field telephones.
              http://der-fernmelder.de/zubehoer-na...f-element-t30/

You may also try to google feldelement or feldelement 33.

              or take a look here.

I know this is a different type of battery, but maybe you can glean some clues from it.

              another wh battery:

                Thanks Mike,

I still can't find the battery I'm looking for. Yep those you mentioned are mostly related to field telephones. The one missing in the box should be similar but shorter. I just can't understand how it is so elusive. Perhaps it was only produced for the Wehrmacht, so was very limited and short lived. Doesn't any member have any manual related to the Beleuchtungsgerät für strichplatte?

If you look at the photo´s there is one of the elements, with the designation: Element D.
It follows there may also be an element A B and C.

It is possible that the military batteries were designed for military equipment exclusively. Maybe a bit larger than similar civilian batteries, so they would not fit easily into commercial privately owned lamps and other equipment.

In Denmark the national Railroads used UK type bulbs for almost 100 years. Presumably to avoid the employees to take them home for private use. In Denmark ordinary bulbs usually have edison treads.

So, publicly owned disposable goods may very well be planned to not fit into ordinary homes.

I also tried to find catalogs from Diamon and Pertrix. No luck.

Update.. tried another approach: german radio shack catalogs.

take a look. maybe that is a way into types and dimensions.

                    Hello Mike,

Here's a nice thread about telephone batteries. See dimensions of the F33 batteries is about 57x57x 120mm. Now in post 20 and 21 member Pak40 as a shorter battery. This one was produced in Belgium by PLB (La Pile Lumina Belge) and could fit that space in the box. I have asked Pak40 for the dinemensions of his battery.

                        Gents,

As I bougth myself several flashlights, Daimon and Pertrix... I decided to work on a Pertrix repro battery now, for the flashlights. It is looking quite nice. I will probablly have some ready tomorrow. See in the link the model of battery:

So now I've now got some Diamon and some Pertrix for my torches and battery boxes. Sorry the last pic doesn't show too well, not natural day light and it's just a bit of a collage.

                                Thanks Michael,

My next one would be a Zeiler or a Tanax battery label... but I need some good shots to start working and I can't find them If any member has some nice battery and wouldn't mind sending me some pics, it would be nice.
