    Luftwaffe NCO Veterinarian’s Tunic

    Hello all

So I picked up this Luftwaffe NCO Veterinarians Tunic. I have never owned a standard issue button up tunic (I own several private purchase/tailor made) so I am a little out of my realm here.

My thoughts....to me the boards look ok. The devices’ look to have been on there for quite some time and when I peeled back the fabric I can clearly see differences in color on the fabric. So it appears to be ok. Also the tabs and tress also seem to be ok compared to others I own. The eagle appears to be have been on the tunic for a long time. I can slightly peel back the edge and I see color variations on the fabric. So again it appears to have been on the tunic for quite some time.

What I don’t know....the farrier patch. I have absolutely zero experience with Specialist Patches so I am at a loss on that. I do know that the gold embroidered patches where the first ones that were made before being changed to the silver threads. I will say the patch seems to have been there for a while and not recently added.

More of what I don’t know...the tunic itself. At first it seemed to be the same type of wool that I was used to seeing and handling. The weight and feel all seemed to check out. Although I did notice that this particular tunic is a 5 button “closed collar”. It has a collar clasp and a button with a button hole enabling the collar to be completely closed.

I tired to take several pictures of the tabs and boards to show the colors. It looks like the Waffenfarbe is definitely maroon in color.

Feedback? Thoughts opinions? Any other photos?

I don’t know why but the photos are sure blurry when I look at them on my WAF app on my phone. They are much clearer on my camera. I can email pics to anyone who wants to see them, if it matters.

I saw this one at the Max Show - I would be interested to see what everyone thinks!

Could you show the under side of a shoulder strap?

I was looking through my books and apparently the “waffenrock” was produced with 5 buttons and the ability to close the collar all the way. So I am assuming that is what the base tunic is?

I did the best I could to get underneath the boards. They seem tightly sewn to the shoulder but unfortunately they are sewn to the tunic on the ends. most of the photos are with flash on.

                            Same and same.

Dave, it was nice chatting with you at the show. And yes, it's a Luftwaffe Waffenrock that can be worn with collar open or closed as opposed to the 4-button open collar Tuchrock.

                              Hello,

The collar tress seems to be Carmine red which could match for veterinary troops.
                              The shoulder straps looks green.
