    SS-DD M35 Helm

I bought a really nice SS collartab from the grandson of the vet a few yrs ago. Now his dad wants to sell this helmet that was passed down from the vet who obtained it in 1945. Here are some photos. Please comment on them.

        1940 dated chinstrap
I asked for the maker name above the date but no answer yet.
This appears to be a nice original M35 DD combat helmet.

HELP: I saw some other ss helmet ask prices on the forum.
I would like to get this helmet and he is asking for a price from me.
I would really appreciate some price feedback by PP.
I think he is probably thinking between a nickle or a dime.
        What is a safe price?

          It is an M40.
Has potential , better straight up close ups of the decal would help and knowing the lot nr.

              M 40

Thank you guys for correcting my m35 mistake.
M-40 matches the date on the chinstrap.
I just asked for the helmet lot number.
I will post the answer as soon as I get it.

Straight on pictures of the decals as said would be needed but from what can be seen it appears the decals are correct.

Looking good so far but proper close up decal shots are a must!

Decal condition not really matching liner condition but in with a chance and much much better pics are needed....decals appear to be graphically good Q types but the runic shield especially without the patina or flaking you would generally like to see. But in with a chance indeed.

HH: Boy am I glad you brought that up!! The grandson was nice enough to mail me his grandfather's SS collartabs for inspection (they were from a CC) and I paid him over 2K. He said in his email that he now lives in Europe but the helmet is in the USA with his dad. There is such a huge difference in condition of the liner vs the decals. There must be some logical explanation. As long as I can have that same inspection period I can post some great photos here. From the lot number we can tell if the shell was sold to the SS. Maybe the maker name or code on the strap will also tell if it was bought by the SS.

                          5555.JPG

The father emailed me this photo.
                          It looks like 5555
I asked for a confirmation but no response.
I asked them if they will ship the helmet to me so I can take some decent photos.

The liner has a lot of staining from use. I don't that much inside/outside condition difference.
