Tempted to take a foray in metal detecting.

Well yes it would be most interesting to see a overview of the camp & as you say what treasures are waiting under the soil ??...

Found something new thats Italian POW made !..its a steel ladys button hook !..yes
its not too exciting a object from a military angle !....but its a testerment to the skill & workman ship of these men who made these objects in order to sell them for extra money to buy some food /tobacco etc !..the handle is of multi metal construction & nicely done !..a small but interesting item of social history ...

Went to a Car boot sale this afternnoon ..while walking round i stopped at one table with lots of china , glass & old brass ..including a nice WW1 trench art item i bought !..but hidden under some junk i spotted a familiar item of none other than POW work !!... "yes its a poker made by the Italian POWs during WW2 ..the chap said when i asked him about it !?..just as my POW button hook was made..well it cost me for the both items ...£2..

                          Thanks guys ...
The man who made the box was quite a skilled carpenter..its done with some loverly dove tail joints ..usein some sort of tropical hard wood ..he also had a eye for perspective too with the artistic lettering picked out firstly with a needle then painted in after...a nice bit of POW work for sure...Semovente
