    In 78 I met a vets son in Tucson whose father collected but passed away, and brought back a tapestry from Goerings hunting lodge at bertchesgaden, but we could not come to an agreement for price...it was Saint George slaying the Dragon on horseback...it was likely a captured Russian tapestry, but not nazi, I don't believe. Never seen anything as beautifully executed. He moved shortly after I purchased his dads collection ...there were 50 swords and daggers, and almost 40 uniforms. Sold them all , but always wondered what happened to the guy...he moved to Fla. But I will keep the towns name confidential. Always hoped he would get back to me , but....ha may have died by now. So when I hear the word tapestry, I always think of his tapestry his dad brought home.

                            Here's another tapestry;

                            This very heavy, wool tapestry measures about 5 feet by 6 1/2 feet, with a gold fringe of 4 inches on two sides. The tapestry depicts three sections of swastikas, all side by side, and over each other. Each section is about 33 inches wide. In the center section, the swastikas are a beige color, and have a background of white. On the two end sections, the swastikas are red and have white backgrounds, and are bordered from the beige swastikas in the center with colors of red and gold stripes.

                            The reverse of this tapestry is ink stamped on the part which I can read, which is, "Stadt Trier". There is other writing above this, which I cannot read, but the part that is clear is enough to identify the city from where this tapestry was no doubt either displayed in an official's office, or perhaps on a wall of the Trier town hall. The tapestry is still in choice condition thrughout, with no flaws anywhere, and would make a great background in a collecting room. Tapestries of this nature are extremely rare, are a great investment quality addition for an advanced collection.

                            5.5k from ww2 daggers site, photos from there.

                              interesting tapestry. It appears to be cut along the bottom.
