        29. Panzergrenadier-Division: another of my favorites ... General der Panzertruppe Walter Freis commander of 29 Panzergrenadier Div. until the end of August 1944 (often mentioned in the German war bulletins with his division)

his signature under a EK 2 certificate of an Uffz of the Grenndier Regiment 71 dated 24 december 1944 (South of Cassino, exactly at San Pietro Infine)

and the commander of the 29 Panzer Division on the Gothic Line, Generalleutnant Fritz Polack ...

his signature on the EK 1 certificate of the same Uffz. dated 9 November 1944 (between Rimini and Cesena) .....

(the first picture is in Sicily, still a colonel commanding the artillery regiment of the 29th Div.)

always the Grenadier Regiment 71 in an EK2 "late war" (April 1945 we are around Argenta) ...

the first picture is just before this certificate, January 1945 on the river Senio, General Polack with the newly RK captain Hans Drexel

yet a post war (but still in uniform) of Polack... ... not a military award but the nomination of a German prisoner, already a Professor in a Germany University, as Professor of the "Alma Mater Bellariensus" (the German University in the POW Camp of German captivity in Rimini) .... dated September 17, 1944, Generalleutnant Polack signs as commander in chief of Rimini Enklave (which in that moment contained about 150,000 prisoners)

another photo of Pollak under Bologna, winter 1944/45

An interesting theme for collecting. Will you be sticking with the Heer and the Divisional & above commanders or will you be branching out to Regimental Commanders and Luftwaffe?

                  thanks Hucks216.

thery are a transversal collections: I am also interested in regimental or battalion commanders (no Kriegsmarine and of the Luftwaffe only the Flak or the "infantry").

the central theme always remain the units and especially the place and dates .... the maximum are the lots of certificates that allow it is possible to reconstruct the whole story of the soldier...... find it like this :

same Regiment, same Division, an EK2 taken on the hills of Rimini between 15 and 20 September 1944, unfortunately the certificate has been exposed and is faded .... the signature of Faulenbach

                      Faulenbach
and two photos date 1943 (France?) of the Generalleutnant Karl Faulenbach with his men
