Here are some of mine. First up is a set of 3 death cards. On the upper left is one for Alois Kuchler, a RAD man who managed to be unlucky enough to die in a hospital in the last days of the war (April 27, 1945). The card on the upper right is for Generalleutnant Ferdinand von Beck, a WWI General who died on the 20th of August 1935 (obviously not from battle related injuries). The bottom card is a scarce brother set. Two brothers that were killed two years apart. Alois was, for some reason, given the honor of listing most of his awards while Josef (though you can see he has a ribbon bar with 3 awards) has none that are mentioned in his description.

Here are some more. Pardon the blue ink marks on the pictures, it is a petty attempt at copy protection. These are panzer. The first is a pretty standard panzer picture for Alfons, the second is a rarer picture with the panzer beret. Not often seen in death cards. Both died on the Russian front.

Here are 3 cards from members of bicycle squadrons. An unusual card to find. Heinrich was involved with the Steyr weapons manufacturer. All died on the Eastern front.

Here's a gem. This guy had a bunch of awards. Apparently his family wanted all of them on the picture on his death card but didn't have a photo where he was wearing all of them. So they decided to get someone to paint them on. If you will notice the EK1 and EK2 are both WW1 examples. Since this guy was 28 when he was killed in 1940, this would have made him 2 years old at the start of WW1. A really nice and unusual example of a death card with a fabricated picture that was truly botched up. Neat card in that it indicates he died in the air war with England.

Interesting set of Luftwaffe cards. Upper left card is for Johann Schreiner. In the photo he is wearing his WWII uniform despite the fact he died quite a bit after the end of the war in a French POW camp on the 8th of July, 1945. The card on the upper right is for Anton Lochner, a pilot (pilot's badge in description) who also was awarded the IAB. The lower card is for 2 brothers, always a poignent type of card. One brother was awarded the Spanish Cross and both were awarded the HJ Hitler Youth Badge of Honor. One was in a pionier batallion the other was a paratrooper.

Sad card for a young soldier that died in the fight for Berlin. He was killed in April 1945 before he even turned 20. A rare card in that the reverse is in full color. I got this card from a friend of the family that also provided me with pics of the cemetary in which he is buried.

Here is the last post that I can supply of something that is less than common. I once posted this card on the forum to find out what badge this individual is wearing. Sadly I misplace my notes so hopefully someone can again provide the information. He also has a G on his right collar and a L on his left. The description says he is a Fliegerhorst who died as a result of an air raid in 1944. It goes on to say that this is the 3rd family member whom they have sacrificed in the way of the war effort. These cards really are sad when you read them and realize the loss that these families suffered for people that were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
