This one has not any entry for an O.A. course and the page you think are training courses are reserve service periods, mainly maneuvers that were made to keep the reserve NCO and Officers at day with his training.

    Thanks for your help

The second one clearly shows that your man attend the 4 O.A. Lehrgang from May 20th till August 9th, 1.940.

Thanks again for the extra info and confirmation of what we think.

Keep going my friends, the more we have the better and accurate will be our knowledge about this matter.

Hi Angel. Congratulations to you you and Archi for the energy spent on this essential subject.... still a lot to discover.... As you Guys have shown so much examples, which O.A./Fhj.Lg do you still need as example ? I will gladly help if I can (just don't ask the 8."Mistery" O.A. ;-)

Thanks for your kind words Lionel.

It will be nice to find more examples from 6, 7 and the last three 16, 17 and 18 as those are the ones with different dates according to the examples we have.

Yes the 8 O.A. Lehrgange is the Holy Grail, neither in the forum nor in the net or with other collectors we have find any info about it.

              Cheers

Not requested, but a nice example of the 15.FHJ-Lehrgang from Potsdam, a WP that I am currently selling

For 16, 17, 18, I really have first to search through my documentation. Let me some time, but be sure I am quite motivated.

Thank you Angel. Also agree with the earlier comments from Lionel. Great thread that both you and Archi have going here with all the examples from members. Will be good to see this thread kept going.

Some more dug out from the old collection. Not sure if these are of any interest.

                        Hello !

Many thanks to Edward, Hofstetter, Lionel and Angel for these interesting contributions !
All of these examples are of interest !

Regarding the question from Lionel :
Hi Angel. Congratulations to you you and Archi for the energy spent on this essential subject.... still a lot to discover....
As you Guys have shown so much examples, which O.A./Fhj.Lg do you still need as example ?

I think it would be very useful, to have at least 3 ot more examples for the O.A. courses 1 - 15, and to see whether these have
all the same exact dates. (I think for some courses, we have already achieved that).
I'll try to summarize the many informations into a new update as soon as possible.
(and also add there, how many examples have been shown for each course)

For the courses 16 - 18, the situation seems to be quite different, as we have already several differing dates.
So for courses 16 - 18, every example might be interesting.
                        I'll add a date for course #18 of Schule IX f. Fhjk. d. Inf. : 3.2. - 29.5.1945 (found in the internet).
In this case, the course seems to have not finished, and the soldiers last rank was : Fhjk.Fw. d.Res.

                        ===============
In the long run it might be possible to expand this topic, regarding the following questions (but in a seperate thread) :
                        - How many ways were there to become an officer ?
(e.g. the 1. example shown by Hofstetter : it seems there were several cases, were soldiers took part in a few short time courses
and finally became Lt. d. Res.,
without taking part in any O.A. course. But the examples I have seen were always prior to 1942.

                        http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=998034
                        - How often did this happen ?
                        - Are there later examples ?).

                        - The sequence of promotions :
I think a quite typical example might be shown by Edward (#34 ) in the SB entries from p.3 (BTW, the dates match very well with the
dates shown by Angel in #26 (16. Fhjk. Lehrg. 28.3.-4.7.44):
-- First taking part in some NCO course and then becoming NCO and ROA or Fhjk.
-- Then beeing promoted to Fhjk. Feldwebel prior to (or early on), when sent to an O.A.-Lehrgang
-- During this course, promoted to Oberfähnrich/Ob.Fw. (or similar).
-- At the end of the course or a few weeks later (when successful) promoted to Leutnant
I think there are many variants to this, regarding timeframes, rank designations etc... .
=> It might be interesting, if there is one path that is typical or if every case was different .

                        - It might be that courses for e.g. for Fhjk. der Panzertruppen, had slightly different dates
                        - There seem to be additional courses for Oberfähnriche (or with other designations), that would be a "follow up"
to the OA. courses for which we are gathering infos here.

All these questions (and maybe more) might be easier to address, if some standard path for the education of officers could be established,
for which this thread is a first start, with already some great results !

Thanks to all and best regards,
