Both GWLs even have the same slight defect on the lower arm of the swaz! And the small crimp mark on the top of the pin. And on the badge I posted, check out the defect in the infamous GWL circle!

A bit of a scruffy Juncker, but I like the detail in the cloud colouring and just visble where not worn are the polished high lights. The finish I think is of a high standard even compared to my GB and others.

I'm not keen though on the eagle, it some how looks out of place on the badge.

I'm told if I clean the badge it would look better, I'll leave it be it though.

Wow - I must have missed this thread. For some reason, I can't see Mike H.'s cased badge picures There are some great Ground Assault badges pictured here!

Anyway, I'm not sure I'd vote for R.K. as my favorite, but it's what I've got. It was my first "major" badge - I bought it when I was in high school almost 30 years ago.

                  Photos

                  Everyone,

I have no idea why the photos of the badge case disappeared. This is a rare piece and is now in a friend's collection.

I will post these again when I get home -- on the road now without all of my photos on the laptop.

                  My best,

                  Mike Heuer

These are the two types of boxes/cases I'm familiar with. The hard case is the one Mike referred to earlier as having been in the Petersen collection, and is indeed the same one that was pictured in Forman's book. It is now in my collection.

                          Hi Chris,

I have the same cardboard boxed LGAB outfit, exact designation on the box too. Perfectly genuine of course in my opinion (there are other sorts of a nature which of course pertain to post war addtions or just out right fake carton and text) and very nice !!!

Is your badge of the unknown maker type, my example is and I've a packeted one of the unknown maker and another packet to an unattributed maker I think to these badges ? (I'd best check on that though)

The case, rare as hens teeth in my opinion of all the 'available' Luft boxes as such (forget the aircrew badge, in my opinion these and the retired pilot case are very difficult to attain........they are in collections, so rare has two sides, attaining and existance in my point of view alone)

                          Kr

                          Marcus

Heres another one of mine, in a generic cardboard box with no designation.

The cardboard box with the designation is just that, a generic form used for a multitude of badges and seldom do they have any designation (all awards in general) which makes it rather special as it's apt to the award.

And an old pic that I can find at the moment of the titled generic carton, I won't bore you with the packets on this thread too.

Of the three main sizes in these generic cardboard forms, this is the type 2 size, the larger type I show above is a type 3 and the largest form encountered in the associated patterns.
