My 2 cents... Looks like the field made ones often worn by the Sturm-Regiment veterans and well aged.
But since these are field made, I think that is nearly impossible to tell if it's good or not without a clear provenance.
After all, it's rather easy to make a badge like that if you have some skill...

This one is on exhibition at the Mugot (Museum of the Gothic Line) near the Giogo pass at Scarperia. Sorry for the bad pic but is the best I have It was found by a friend of mine with other vet's belongings.
Very similar in construction but, again, this is very easy to replicate!

Is the fact that the one for sale on estand has fewer mounting holes than the other two posted for comparison a difference with some distinction or just the happenstance of being hand made? This assuming any of them are pre-1945.

I am the seller of the badge; I will post better images tomorrow if possible.

I understand folks' apprehension, but if it was offered on a dealer's site, it would likely be accepted without question; however, as an attorney, I dare not risk my livelihood by engaging in mail fraud/ theft, so who would you feel safer to buy from?

Alas, if it doesn't sell, I shall keep it in my collection.

That is certainly the most important factor, regardless of who was selling it. With the various elements of provenance. I am not offering an opinion on the Komet because there is no way I can tell.

You are better off with a piece of Metal, cut your Komet out and you have the same. Provenance is the magic word, without it can be the Komet from last New Years Party or that one from Jesus....you will never know
