Thanks Yannis. I have the book and will have to go back through it. I plan on going back next year and taking the approach of a "staff ride" as we call it in the U.S. military. My wife was with me this time and although she's a great travel companion it would have been a lot to ask of her to help me retrace the battle.

Hopefully you'll be back in Crete when I go next year. I think I remember you saying this time you were away at training during the period we were there.

      Regards!

      Bob

You're welcome Willi. The trip was great and it was damn hard going back to work last Monday

Here are a few more for some of our other members who have pieces belonging to these men.

See you at the Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh soon.

        Regards!

Bob, HBH for sure, and with a good cigar. Will be the "hail and farewell" to the Monroeville Max. Look forward in hearing more about your trip.

Sad that a month later they would die in battle.

                      Hi

I think that the Anton Müller of this picture isn´t the same Anton Müller who is buried in Block 3 Grab 114

The Gefreiter Anton Müller buried in Block 3 Grab 114 was a member of 2./Fallsch. San Abt 7 who was killed on 21 May in Maleme

                      Regards. Joserra.

Thanks for your reply. I am aware of that fact. However, he is the same person as can be seen in the portrait here that has been linked to that particular grave (the portrait is not mine) So he was transferred shortly after this photo was taken which is not that uncommon.

                          Hi

Gefreiter Anton Müller: Born 13.09.1919 in Berg. Dog tag: 62804/142 - 2./Fallsch. San Abt 7. KIA 21.05.1941 300 meters to the south of the road Maleme-Chania

Are you sure that is the same man who was with 3./FJR1 in April 1941?

It could be but I think that is very uncommon as you say. He must have medical knowledge to be transferred from FJR1 to Fallsch San Abt 7 one month before Operation Merkur. It has no sense jump and fight with new comrades.

Many thanks for the picture you show us. It´s very interesting for me.

                          Best regards. Joserra.

Yes, I know It was brought up in post 13. My sincerest apologies to all here for unwittingly misidentifying the location.

Very rich of you to come on and point that out rather than posting a simple thanks for wasting my time and posting a pic of Glanz's headstone.
