    Special FJ "Klarscheiben" tin

    Hello to all,
I tried to make a rapid study through this forum to determinate how many
different tins exist . So I find 3 types which I classified in this following
way : AB (auer) = early war period , BWZ = mid war period , EBD =late war.

if others exist , please talk about . Any comments are welcome.
    AB:

    BWZ:

    EBD:

The tins are not just for FJ . They are for all gasmasks in non-rigid containers.

This one is for the horse gasmask:

They are not common, that's for sure.

Up until a few years ago, the tropical ones were even rarer; then a large, un-issued stash was found.

This is the one that was issued with my early bag. Note the date. It is not one of the later tins from the hoard.

Indeed I knew those and have some , they fit perfectly in the bag's small pocket.
Bizarrely the most groundug ones found in Normandy are the round ones.

I think Patrick found a few at a flea market once.

Here's another view of the horse tin:

                    Item 5 in this photo.

BTW, the horse mask shares a few other components with the FJ masks , including toggles , buckles, clips and straps.

                        Hello ,
here are some of mine FJ gasmask tins :
-early alu AB tins from AUER
-one alu and one zink BWZ
                        -some later zink EBD
                        unfortunatly all empty

For Steve , no horse gasmak bag for the EBDs

Wow Roger, nice selection! I guess we need to call you the "tin man" from now on!!

I sure could use one of those "ebd" ones.....

                              Just a heads-up warning :

I found these 2 tins at the recent War & Peace show. The dug-up is a genuine bwz. The other is a genuine AUER , but from 1966 . Exact same tin from the same manufacturer, but without a maker stamp. Good for re-enactors, and good for the fakers !

                              Watch out !
