    Soldbuch, help with translation

    A59FFA53-D1FF-4F40-B3D4-8318A42653DC.jpg

    Aloha All,
Would appreciate your help with what’s hand written on top of page one of this soldbuch. The only two words I think I got, gafallen (fell) and gefangen (captured). Also what does the abbreviations R.O.B. (next to Grenadier) and
    W.M.A. stand for?

    Mahalo, and please be safe.
    Rodney

R.O.B. is Reserve Offizier Bewerber and means Reserve Officer Candidate
    W.M.A. is Wehrmeldeamt, Recruiting Office

    Angel
Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

This Soldbuch was found in a field (location: between A and H) on April 08 1945.

The finder assumed that the owner was taken prisoner rather than KIA

Mahalo, Angel, Gerdan, Jeff and naxos!
That’s some great work on the translation and abbreviations for ROB and WMA. The soldier’s picture in the soldbuch is missing and is dated 14, Dez.(?)1944 and his unit Stammkomp. Gren. Ers. Batl. 21. His date of birth Sept. 26, 1927 which would make him 17 in 1944.
I did a Google translation German to English that Gerdan was able to read and translate.
            8.4.45, nicht gefallen, wahrscheinlich vermißt d.(as) h.(eißt) gefangen.Im Acker zw.(ischen) A. + H. gefunden

8.4.45, not fallen, probably missing d. (As) h. (Ißt) caught. Found in the field between (ischen) A. + H.

(naxos: soldbuch was found in the field…) Could it be at his age and how the war was going in 1944/45, maybe he deserted and took his picture out so he wouldn’t be found?

            Aloha All for your help....

              Aloha All,
Here’s a few more photos I took of the soldbuch. The round ink stamp where the missing photo was and other pages of the book: ” Stamm-kp./Gren. Ers Btl 21”

Gerdan, you were very helpful with the handwriting, can you make the soldier’s name?
Mahalo again for all the help!!

Kia ora! It’s an interesting pencilled message on a nice late war soldbuch.

In the Volksbund liste are listed 7 Erich Spitzer - 3 of them have been KIA /MIA 1945 but all seem

far away. So he could have survived.

                        Mahalo Gerdan!!
That’s great information, one of 7 Erich’s (3 being KIA/MIA). I tried using the link but it’s in German and don’t know how to have it translate to English on my iPad.
His birthday is Sept. 26, 1927 and birth place Regensberg.

Aloha, and stay healthy and safe...

Mahalo Gerdan for the english version of the website but after inputting Erich Spitzer’s Birthday, Place of birth, Date of death/becoming missing..it sent me to a second page “Search for the burial place of your relative” and ask for my address, country etc. I ended it there as I’m not a relative of Erich. I’m satisfied with your information being 1 of 7 Spitzer.

                            Aloha, Stay Healthy and Safe.

                              Hi Rodney,

Please find attached the volksbund list. None of them matches your soldbuch (born the 26th of September of 1927). Maybe he is not listed in the database or he survived.

Best regards and I hope it helps,

                              Josep
