Can we all agree this tag is fake ?

Theres a seller on a dutch market place who has a small MP grouping for sale that he got from the family with a dogtag in it. I think the tags looks weird and is a modern replica looking at the hole, notch, space between letters. I asked the seller if its a copy made by the family after the war but he claims its original WWII era when I showed him pictures of replica dogtags and the tags compared to my tags he said your tags are fake then. Can we all agree with that this is a 100% replica tag ?

Look at the photos the punch in the hole the not flattened edge on the back around the hole, hole also looks way smaller than originals, the way the letters have so much space, and the fact its stamped upside down in combination with everything is weird.. Here some better detail photos with my own tags compared.

Here the photos look at them all:

Agree with Mike....To me, they look like typical NOK (Next of Kin) early dog tags....With a bounty full of originals on the market, don't see the reason for reproducing them...Bodes

One thing I have noticed is that the dogtags I KNOW to be authentic WWII tags have the hole on the right as you are looking at them. My reproductions (for reenacting) have the hole on the left.

I looked through Paul F. Braddock's excellent book "Dog Tags - A History of the American Military Identification Tag 1861-2002" and all the photos of WWII tags show the hole on the right.

I am not an expert, and I do not claim that real WWII tags only had the hole on the right, but this is just something I noticed with limited data.

I think we should also remind ourselves that dog tags were, literally, made in the millions. They were made by multiple different manufacturers, with slight variations between manufacturers. The book mentioned above notes rolled edges, unrolled edges, etc.

            Somethings to think about.

Did you guys look at my comparison pictures at all ? The hole in the tag is bogus and only seen on modern replica tags, ive also never seen a tag with this much space between the letters. I once bought a lot with 1500 US tags NOK and normal mixed and didnt see any of these things on them.. Its not even flattened at all on the back which is another red flag someone give me a picture of an original tag that had this ? The KIA 2nd ranger tag on this forum also had this punch in the hole and also turned out to be a fake one. Mostly tags arent reproduced for selling purposes but family replicating them after the war for themselves or the vet.

this grouping came from ebay us - type this guys name in google and it will come up.

I really doubt its a "modern" fake.. but maybe family had it done decades ago... just a variation

Actually there is since the whole tag looks weird to me and the hole on this tag gives away its certainly a replica. Im actually really shook how many people think this is an original tag.

I just dicovered G.F Harreld draft card from WW2, and ... I admit I will have to agree now that these are modern made - possibly not by faker in the true meaning - but maybe grandchildren ? either way - they are modern
if you look at the draft card - Father lived in Louisville, KY - not Verona, PA .

No Way Dick would make a mistake like this when creating tags

maybe made by this guy as they look identical:

Probably made by family after the war. Maybe the vet lost his set or something close to this.
