    Iwo Jima Helmet

So my grandfather picked up this cover on Iwo during the war, I'm assuming it was from a friend of his, so I snagged this helmet to display it. What you think?

There is a Calvin Magoon that was a KIA but not on Iwo, could still be the guy though, I can't see the middle initial on your cover.

He was also a silver star recipient.

First initial is C. Looked him up, Calvin G. Magoon, PFC, 25th Marines. Silver Star, but was unfortunately definitely KIA on Iwo.

Anyone know where you can look up his award citation?

Awesome, I couldn't find him on the Iwo KIA roster, go to hometown heroes, it may be there.

Under Blakeney's it does list Magoon, Calvin G., 409234, as being awarded the Silver Star in Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, on 11 March 1945. Strangely, however, he is not listed there as KIA though. But another source online does list him as KIA in Iwo. It is a shame you only have the camo cover. It is a great cover.

Not the citation, but just found this:

Private First Class Calvin G. Magoon (MCSN: 409234), United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action at Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands on March 11, 1945.
