Bombadier 2nd Lt Alexander G. Bruce

Here are some of the medals of 2nd Lieutenat Alexander G. Bruce, a single man from St. Louis, Missouri who enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on April 6, 1942 at the age of 22.

He became a 2nd Lieutenant and a Bombadier on a B17 in the 8th Air Force, 388th Bomb Group, 563rd Bomb Squadron.

His airplane, when returning from a mission on September 4, 1944, crashed into the Baltic Sea killing all onboard.

Although the bodies of some of the crew were eventually recovered, it is believed that Lt. Bruce's body was never found.

Do you happen to know the name of his plane? I have a family member that also was in the 388th.
