    Thank you for your pictures Stangell,
    Unlike the difference of uniforms between officer and soldier of the NKPA, the PVA have strick regulations on their uniforms for covering up their real positions and ranks especially for officers.

      Here is another picture from my PVA collection showing a veteran from the Korean War wearing this very specific type of jacket as an armoured officer in the PLA. The picture is taken in 1957 and note the wear of both collar patches and shoulder boards and also cap insignia of the PLA.
