    Translate Tang on Japanese Sword?

    Can anyone read/tell what is on the tang of this sword? Thanks.

    By looking at other swords here I believe it is an Army Officer's Sword, WW2.

        Photos of sword

        Thanks for the translation. I researched those names you provided and found he was born in 1908 and was a WW2 smith. I photo'd the sword and would like to have input on it. I know it is in a standard Army Officer's scabbard and the sword itself is also. Here is what I have, I would like to know if it is machine made or traditional made. Thanks.

          Made with assistance of machines and then hand finished. Not a traditionally made piece but a nice collectible and iconic piece none the less.

              Princing on Type 98 Officer gunto has fallen a bit in the last year or so. You can find them in your condition as low as $800 and as high as $1,400. Avg price $1,000.
