It’s a difficult subject being over 200 years old

New to me, but at one point in history France was about ankle deep in tokens, busts and other memorabilia featuring l'empereur and sold to loyal compatriots. A minor industry in its own right, both during his reign and at various points afterwards.

This one is a very nice example, though!

          upbeek,

I am not a French collector but what stands out to me is the lion on the reverse of the medal/medallion. A lion, as an emblem, is not something that I would normally associate with France. This specific lion look very much like the one used by Czechoslovakia. Don't now if my comments will be of use but I hope so.

          Regards,

          Gordon

            Thank you Gentlemen
When I received it it was completely black in box of cap badges, I gave it a rub not easily and it revealed it was made from silver, certainly unusual but nice ! It’s just a bit of Napoleonic history

            Kind regards Chay
