59 pattern Denison smock with camo material repair. I’ve included a well known photo with one in wear on the troop second from left.

                .

Well it isn't a "T-Shirt" so to speak, i think this is probably a post 1980 shirt though?

                        .

Fabulous to see these things! There are a lot of these items right now in Zimbabwe, I have tried in the past to have work friends to collect things up and mail me or bring it home from leave however they are really terrified to be seen asking for it or at the border and especially because of the post 1980 Massacres and that their families were in the RLI too etc. The whole country is controlled and watched internally. The Adjutant of the RLI who i worked with in Africa (Green Leaders brother) offered me some few camo T-shirts still in the plastic bags although i still have to visit to get those. Your thread though peaks my interest again!

The Africa Sun fading is certainly very visible on the items posted! It turns everything white although it produces some very nice shades from previously dark camouflage or darker colors that i simply couldn't do with the washing machine. I can recall a reproduction WW2 Burma shirt i had that was originally Jungle green and then after some time in the Bush it turned to a very pleasing aged color, greenish-tannish-yellow so much that when i gave it to a friend people wanted to know where to buy one. Under the Pocket flaps was jungle green, what a contrast!

                        Really good thread!
