Two temporary award documents for same man, same date, both Order of Red Star

Hereby I wanna show my latest addition to the collection which, in my eyes, is quite a remarkable set. It contains two temporary award certificates, both for the Order of Red Star, both awarded on 22nd of March 1944, both awarded to Senior Sergeant Nikolay Yurevich Smetana from 221st Mariupol Rifle Division. The Order of Red Star serial numbers are # 481626 and # 481629, only 3 numbers apart and the document numbers are even closer, #987482 and 987483! Now I need to find both Red Stars

Very very cool! Have you checked, was he awarded both Stars or was this a clerical error?
    Thanks,

Thanks a lot Eric. I haven't done more research yet. Unfortunately I can't type Cyrillic on my laptop so I can't search his name on podvignaroda.ru

I figured out it was not a clerical error. He earned his first Red Star by actions on 20 october 1943 and his second Red Star for actions on 29 october 1943 in south-eastern Ukraine. The website podvignaroda.ru is slow with opening documents at the moment so will check again tomorow. From what I figured out so far is that for the first star he destroyed a tank, and officers and soldiers with heavy machine guns. The second star was also for destroying a tank and killing 10 soldiers in the same area.

He served in the 695 Rifle Regiment from the 221 Rifle Division.

Hope to find out more tomorow

Interesting documents. It looks like you also want to get some thing to protect your documents.

All these temporary documents are very fragile so all are kept in protective acid-free plastic folders

Thanks for your follow up post and good to read that the documents are already protected.
