ww2 British slippers or shoes without laces (1943 dated)

    Hello to all

Are those one slippers or low quarters without laces ?

The lining is not quilted, just plain leather and a thin cheesecloth lining

Sole if made of heavy duty leather, not thin

    Thanks

I've seen these advertised as officers slippers.

Hmm, no I'm affraid not but it is probably ebay which is not the best place to find accurate item descriptions.

As officers privately purchase their own kit I do not imagine that they would be issued slippers, esp in time of war! I think these are hospital issue for sick/wounded men.

Also, if they were private purchase, I don't think they'd have the broad arrow mark which was, after all, meant to identify issue kit so that no one could sell it!

Hospital kit makes sense. The only WWII photo of patients and their feet I found in a quick search is this one and it isn't possible to say for sure what they're wearing but it could be slippers.
