I found out that Generalfeldmarschall von Richthofen was a commander of the VIII. Fliegerkorps. Could this be his signature still as a General? ...hofen is for sure but the beginning? I somehow do not see Richthofen there. Who is it?
Please also look at the other document, signed by a Generalmajor, Kommandeur of the Heeresgruppe Mitte, who is he?
(sorry, I am a real greenhorn with document stuff)
I don't collect LW items, but I found that von Richtofen was promoted to Generaloberst on February 1.942 and he commanded VIII Fliegerkorps till June 1.943 when also command the Luftflotte 2, I also found three other documents with the same signature, an EK I to a Hauptmann and pilot on August 6th, 1.942 another EK I to a gefreiter on September 20th, 1.942 and an EK II to an Unteroffizier on December 22nd, 1.940 and all are the same as yours and sport the command that von Richtofen was holding at that time so I think he was the officer who signed your document.
And who is nthe guy on my right document? Do you know that as well? I haven´t found him in the Third Reich factbook. And Richthofen never was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall? That what they say at The Third Reich factbook?!
Richthofen WAS promoted Generalfeldmarschall, I dont have the date in mind, but he was the youngest GFM promoted by the Bohemian Private, and the last CinC of the Luftwaffe 1945.
Frank,
Try asking on the http://www.feldgrau.net discussion forum. Someone there might have a reference which will show the H.Gr. Mitte Koluft for that time period.
the signature is from Gen.Maj. Philipp Zoch. He was from 01.06.1941 - 14.12.1941 the commanding General (so called Koluft = Kommandeur der Luftwaffe) of the Heeresgruppe Mitte (Page 26 from Kurt Mehner: Die deutsche Luftwaffe 1039-45)
