Making of a display cabinet
Dear Fellow Members
Was wondering if i may get some info from some of the fine experts of this forum.
I'm in the early stages of designing a custom multi drawer display cabinet to store my medals and was wondering if there is a better type of wood to use,or is it just a personal preference. Also after deciding on what type of wood to use, is better to stain or varnish the wood .I want to use something that wont chemically hurt the medals over a period of time.
Also is there any problems using silk as a liner?Any help or advise would appreciated.
Thanks in advance Jay

Hi Bob
Thank you for the pics.Thats almost exactly what i had in mind except that i wanted to have a few drawers for badges only.In thoses drawers i would have indvidual slots for each badge. Is the cabinet vannished? What kind of material are you using to line the inside with.Any chance you still have the building plans? If so could i get a copy.
Again Thanks for the reply. Jay

Hello Jay
Once you have these made you can do anything with them
The drawers are lined with felt and quilt padding
As for plans, They are in my head. Built and designed with pen and paperI just skecthed what i wanted and worked out all the cuts i have to make.
Then i had a guy i know build it for me after i bought all of the material
Since i don't have a tablesaw,
