Interesting units!
I bought the following Soldbuch because of his rank (Stabsfeldwebel) and the fact he was shown with this rank in the photo. Initially looking at his units it appeared that he served in the west and east with an Infanterie Division. Contracting lumbego in 1941 and convalescing or becoming cadre of replacement units in Germany.
November 1943 he was transferred to Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 271 and during late 1944/45 Einsatz Regiment zur besonder Verwendung 1 and zur Verfügung Regiment 3.
The latter units looking like "specialist" units?
Award wise he was DRL and SA Sports Abz., KVK II m/S, DA IV Kl., Verw.Abz. in Schwarz.
According to Tessin:
Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 271
Formed 1.11.1943 through WK II in Schneidemühl and Mühlhausen as replacements for Stab Kommando Stelle S, later B z.b.V. (V2 test and deployment). 23.11.1944 incorporated into Lehr und Versuchs Abteilung (Demonstration and Experiment) with 1 and 2 Lehr und Versuchs, 3 technische, 4 Treibsoff (Fuel) and 5 Zielbeobachtungs (Target observation) Batterien.
The other two units I can not find anything on!!
Does anyone have any information on these types of units?
Thanks in advance, Ian
