Silver Mother Cross
My first Mother Cross (in silver) came in this week together with the package (marked Petz & Lorenz). The reverse of the cross reveals it's a silver one, but the obverse has some remains of a finish that doesn't seem like it's silver (especially near the letters and on the rays as well). I'm strongly convinced it's a good one though. Any thoughts from Mother Cross collectors?
Cheers,
Laurens

In the previous pictures, please take a look at the edge just around the blue enamel. Is this cross heavily worn so it no longer has a silvered-edge around the enamel?

Thanks my friends
I'm glad the medal is OK. The package is also worn and it has a light-brown mark on the front, seems like someone spilled coffee or something similar on it. To be honest, I wouldn't want it any other way
Cheers,
Laurens

Hi.
Good silver Mother cross, Laurens. With the tipic silver rust. A good piece.
Relative to the Mother cross, i have any questions:
Wich was the "score" to have anyone?. Im not sure but i think was bronze for 3 sons. Its really?, its silver for 7 or more?
Regard and thanks

The bronze Mother Cross was given when having four or five children. The silver grade was awarded for having six to seven children. The gold one for eight or more.
I have no clue though about how many of these crosses were made and/or awarded. So if someone has an estimated number...
Regards,
Laurens
