LW Flak badge; opinions needed
Hello again,
This flak badge was in the group. I thought the eagle looked like it was attached in a weird way; is it correct? What about the dark color and the diagonal marks on the reverse? If it's real does anyone know who made it?

Hi Harvey,
100% original badge in zinc made by F.W. Assmann - you can see the Assmann logo located on the left wing on the backside of the eagle. Typical Assmann hinge / catch setup for one of their zinc examples! Nice Badge.

That's the reverse of Harveys' I posted Mic with just a little adjustment to it. 
I'm curious though, what all that extra material is around the catch and eagles' reverse - the material on the eagle looks as though it dripped down from the hinges' baseplate.

Sorry Eric, I thought that one was yours for comparison, I would like to see another one. I don't like the position of the two lines on top of the breech, it looks as if they are not in the centre? The eagle's head also looks strange. Opinions?

Great original Assmann in zinc, the eagle does not look strange, it is the classical Assmann Flak eagle. Excess material is solder. Diagonal lines are filemarks from handfinishing and are absolutely fine.

Hello Frank,
Thanks for the positive identification of that excess material - I thought it was solder but really wasn't positive. Someone got a little carried away with the soldering iron!

Here's my example in zinc. Pretty much a clone except for the absence of all the excess solder.

It does not look like a repair to me. It is the same solder for the eagle and the catch, unlikely BOTH parts had to be repaired at the same time. I think it is an original, first time sloppy solder job.
