Default Jagd Tiger at Benning

I made another trip to the storage site for the Armor/Cav museum on Fort Benning. According the curator this JagdTiger was found abandoned in a village in western Germany by the US Army. It was moved from Aberdeen along with most armored vehicles Aberdeen had. A couple things to notice; the deep gouges from Sherman rounds on the front armor and the gun mantle. Also, the gun is damaged into the recoil position...perhaps done by the crew when they abandoned this massive vehicle. I find this armor vehicle to be most impressive. Mike

Jagdtiger #331 (Fahrgestellnummer 305020) was one of two Jagdtigers from the 3./s.Pz.Jg.Abt 653 abandoned on Landauer Straße in Neustadt an der Weinstraße on 21 March of 1945. Here are a few photos of this very vehicle taken around the time of their capture:

A color shot of Jagdtiger '323' located across the street from '331.' The rear of this vehicle can be seen in the first image I posted (post #5).
