I could be wrong but some of the inside stamps suggest that the jacket was used by israeli forces....(A lot of camo uniforms were supplied by france to Israel).
The odd 47/56 TAP smock has turned up now and again badged to a US advisor to ARVN forces. Given the dates it is certainly not outside the realm of possibility that 47/56 smocks were worn in Vietnam on an individual basis but I think you are correct in that ARVN stocks would have left over from the French involvement pre-1954.

I think it unlikely this particular jacket ever saw the shores of Vietnam given that stampings suggest it may have been somewhere else battling Arab forces at that time.

This is indeed a French 47/56 para smock used by the Isreali's, the stamps inside are Isreali IDF acceptance and you can see the remains of the IDF black ink stamp above the left chest pocket on the front of the smock. Pretty much all IDF lizard camo featured the stamp on the outside above the left chest pocket.

France was Isreal's largest supplier of camouflage uniforms and equipment from 1956 to 1968. French 'Lizard' camouflage uniforms of 47/53, 47/54 and 47/56 patterns were supplied to the Isreali Defence Force's elite units such as paratroopers and commandos, and remained in use up until around 1968 when they started to appear in use by the Palestinians. Photos taken during the 1968 'Six day war' in Jerusalem by the British war photographer Don McCullin show Isreali paras wearing a mixed bag of the above lizard uniforms.

And also the 47/52 'Allegee' TTA infantry jackets in lizard camouflage. Don McCullin also took a series of photos in Cambodia with some Paratroopers who had this lizard gear on.
