Default Help identify a buckle

Purchased in a Vet lot. The hammer and sickle make me think communist?
The opening for the leather is approx. 35mm wide.
As always your help is valued.
Paul

Hello Paul,

This buckle features the current Coat of arms of Austria which was adopted in 1945. It is best identified by it's broken chains which signify the liberation from National Socialist rule. The sickle & hammer represent agricuture and industry. Just what this buckle was used for (civilian, walking-out..?) I'm not sure.

Best,
Adam
