Hi again, the man says they will remove the screws and take the body apart in 5 pieces. Than, for a period for apx 3 yers it will be laid in fresh water, befor the final restauration. Guess this is the only one to "survive". It was in the christmas 42 after patroling in the north see it was to return to Sola. A "hard" landing destroyed one of the flotters (with air in). The plane was rediscoverd in 2005 or 2006.

Best T.

was checking around the internet to see if i could find anything else out abut the restoration and looks like although its missing the floats and an engine the museum who are restoring it have spare engines and a spare set of floats so hopefully in a few years there will be a complete He115 on display!

A very rare Aircraft recovered and without a doubt will be restored superbly. It has been well preserved in the Norwegian waters. The conservation and restoration work carried out in Norway is some of the world's best Thank you for sharing the link. Regards, Clive.

I just hope some bright spark doesn't come up with the idea to paint it in Norwegian colours. The Norwegian air force also operated the He 115 up to April 1940.

This plane belonged to 1./Küstenfliegergruppe 906, aerial torpedo staffel that had also been involved in the attacks against the Murmansk convoys earlier in 1942.

Excellent! A type of aircraft that is seldom encountered. I appreciated the youtube uploads as well since I don't speak the language. I sure hope it is properly restored.

I am afraid that this like all other planes recovered in Norway will be restored beyond all recognition:-( A real pity when it is as well preserved as this. The original paint will be removed and it will be as soulless as 90% of all restored airplanes around the world.

2 things would happen to this rare aircraft if it wasnt raised! 1 it would be stripped by souviner hunters and then 2 it would rot to nothing!id MUCH prefer this to be pulled up and be restored to a "soulless" he115 then to have none around!
