Default Price indication restored flag pole

Guys,

I'm planning to trade or sell one of my restored flag poles..
This is not a every day item and I've a hard time to put a price tag on one of these.
On one hand it took me a load of time to rebuild a couple of these etc, plus the investment I made, on the other hand it's a working flag pole without the springs and with a reproduction flag ( 100% copy of a original ) and the "key" to attach the flag to the pole.
I've got a offer of 200 euro, but what about the additional materials and the many hours, weeks and frustration that it took me to get it all working again ?
I was a bit puzzled by that, especially when I see people paying loads of money for a heavily rusted relic SS helmet without liner and 10% traces of a decal, so I bet I'm in the wrong field ..
Just kidding, hope you're no stupes like that, just like to hear something reasonable.
Pole has issues, little holes which are repaired, dents, elements move a bit rough .., but it's complete, even with aluminum disk and a moving screw at the end, at top the disk and screw can be removed, normally they're stuck forever on found flag poles..
All tubes/elements can be pulled out/pushed in, so it can be displayed as complete pole and flag or put in the leg pocket.
I don't want the jack pot, but I don't want to give it away either ..
During the last 2 years I've managed to rebuild 3 poles, but it took about 20 relic poles which were found in crashed planes to get this result.
I'm now on the fence to sell / trade one, maybe 2 to get/find some items I realy want like a blue Scho-ka-kola tin, observer Leuchtstift, NCO flight wool visor etc..
To own a flag pole in reasonable condition isn't too bad, it's a very rare item.
I personally would rate it 50/60 % compared to a perfect one, with the plus that it works.
Additional are the flag and the "key", key normally can't be found, found a few dirty ones years ago which I cleaned.
I'm just curious about your thoughts, I normally have no problem to rate a item, but in this case I've no clue actually.

Any thoughts ?

Frozen examples go for around $200, and all original functioning examples for over $1000, so I think a functioning restored one should be somewhere in between.

Jos,
I have never seen a half decent one for sale! I think you have to find a price that you are happy with that equals the amount of time and effort you put into restoring it.

Any price I give you would be plucked out of the air but if I happened to see one for sale, I would expect it, in the condition you describe, to be priced at about 500 euros.
Best regards,
Andy

Default Flagpole

Hello!

I have seen items where the price / value has been higher then the one restored. ( not particular flagples) .

Of course the standard of restoration is very important.

Hours of job can not be counted in the work , who decides the standard world wide hour price ? It is probably the buyer who decides what your value of work was.

I see this as our hobby , and the historical interest we common have in these parts.

Hope I did not upset anyone , that was not the meaning , only to give my point of view.

best Chris

Same here, I saw one for sale years ago and bought it immediately, another one was offered to me, but the owner wanted a cased German cross in gold for it, bit out of my range ..
For the rest I only saw the ground dug frozen ones..
They're rare, more rare than SS helmet, para helmet, knight cross etc, less wanted perhaps, because it's a less essential part and flight collectors are only a small group and most of them are only focused on suits, caps, goggles and boots.

So I think selling a working oldy for a price as high as any Infanterie Sturm Abzeichen ( infantry assault badge ), which can be found on every street corner and as much as you like, would be a bit strange and not in balance.
I've restored one for a English collector, he brought me the material, let me keep the bits and parts that were left and paid me a decent price for my work, he was over the moon to finally have one for his fighter pilot.
My first flag pole was a restored one, missing one tube and had some other issues, regardless those issues I wanted it badly and I had to trade a Kreta cuff tittle for it .., later on, when I had some parts, I fixed it and made it complete, a dangerous job, it's working with thin fragile material, but it went well ..
Ít's all about how bad you want one, a pilot isn't only a flight suit, cap and goggles ..
I've 5 flagpoles, one in very good condition, one super decent, one I traded for the cuff title and 2 restored by myself.
I've tried to find me some survival items and to use the 2 restored ones for trade etc, but no luck sofar, maybe I'll push my luck on ebay one day..
