Vimy ridge Stereoscope

Greetings!


I bought 3 of these this weekend, one of a zeppelin, one of a Russian artillery gun and this.

I thought it was unique due to the fact that I am Canadian and Vimy have a particular interest in this battle as well as the fact that this is the only 1 of the 3 of the similar series that has NO discription on the reverse of the picture and because it has no physical resemblance to what i know of what the ridge looks as of today.

Should anyone have access to a photograph from this point of view as of recent I would be amazed to see it.

A superb image but I am unsure if it would be easy to find this area today to gain a good comparison. I recently went on a private tour of the WW1 Battlefields, the first time since the mid-1950's, and having looked at many areas that were totally devastated, needed a lot of thought and imagination to visualize what it was like back then. A location that I found most moving was the Canadian Newfoundland Memorial. I was amazed to see the surviving trench-lines, tunnels and the outstanding memorial. It was truly impressive to meet with the Canadian staff there, to see their dedecation in preserving and sharing the history of this amazing site. Regards, Clive.

Is there any way of telling even from what direction this is looking? Other than from the allied side?

Is there possibly even a comparable photo to determine how early on this was?
