I don't like the runes on this one. I would not feel confortable with this in my collection.

i agree , for me a very good fake! on the original the ss runes and circle are perfect! on your some problems!

Probable post war.
These have been copied at least since the 1960's. Attached a salty original example with its tag clinging on. Originals do vary, but yours is suspect imo.

I bought two of those exactly like this one from Tom Johnson long time ago. These were late period production from the Raab Accoutrements firm in Germany. He only had a small amount that he sold in in a very short time. They were unissued and still tied and in a wrapper.

So did I by mail order. On receipt I examined it carefully, did not like it and sent it back for a refund because I considered it postwar. He and I begged to differ on the authenticity of these "Raab" portepees, but being the gentleman that he is Tom refunded my money.
At the end of the 1960's a UK dealership openly sold very good copies of the SS portepee, marketed as copies they are still out there.
