This looks almost identical to mine, except the reverse on mine is quite a bit darkened/patinaed and the swing-top on mine is a bit different, and the c-catch on the bottom opens to the left. Mine also has no markings. I think mine is stamped silver--would that be right for BHM? Sorry, no photo tech available on my end.
( Have also IAB and PAB in same general config's. Have had them all for 37 years.) )

This variant with the C catch is much rarer than the avarage Mayer and this one is atributed to Schickle.

This looks a very nice badge, but has the catch been repaired?
Hans, when you say attributed to Schickle, do you mean someone on another site has decided to call this Schickle, or do we have serious evidence?
If this is the same die as the L/18 marked examples, It would be a massive leap to call it Schickle based on the "C" catch imo. If you do have more substantial evidence, please post here..
I know that Schickle has been banded about with "Mayer" design IABs and PABs, but I believe a large part of that connection, was from a catalogue picture, and not enough to attribute the badges to that maker imo.
regards
Graeme

Very nice GAB. I love the Mayer design as well. Second only to Juncker IMO.
The one I have has a misaligned strike making the head and wings a bit thicker visually and wth the cut outs, but still with the flat wire catch.
Again great looking badge.

Hello Graeme,
I made a mistake, its not the badge which is called Schickle.
The catch has a plate which I didn't see yesterday, it looks the catch has resoldered to it.
But this is still not attributed to Mayer, but to Petz & Lorenz.
As you said this set up can be find with L/18 maker mark just as the IABs and PABs. Beyond the set up difference which this variant has, there is no cut out between the swastika and the feathers, also the eagles head is a bit different IMO.
About the connection of these badges, they can be found on other forum, but Tom Durante already shared the infos here, just not about a GAB:
http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...etz+Lorenz+pab
If there is further evidence was found I don't know I am not interested in Pforzheim makers so deeply.
What is important to Wyatt IMO is that this is a rare variant with this set up, even it was made by Mayer, P&L or Frank & Reif, but maybe repaired.

Thanks for all the replys. I am still learning the schickle/Mayer/petz&lorenz differences myself. I will take another pic of the catch to verify if it is a repair though.
