Approaching the Nimitz and getting ready to board the ship. Note the yellow landing guidance lighting which marks the center line of the runway as seen by the pilot. Compare this picture with #29 and reveals that Nimitz ,unlike the latter Abraham Lincoln, does not have those vertical beams for the small landing platform attached to the ship end.
Getting close to the Nimitz. Note the white cylinder shape Phalanx ( Close-In Weapon System, i.e, CIWS) anti-ship missile system which can burst 2000 rounds per min. against incoming hostile missiles.
The area at the left where you can see a sailor( with black uniform/ white cap) standing can be used to light up/test the running condition of the jet engines after fixing.
Richard Quinlan's Nimitz ( older version):
Compare this picture ( area 1 to 4) with the pictures shown at #62, #63 and #64( new version).
Note at area 2 , a F-14 Tomcat engine is under testing run.
Note that orange radar dish with the wording " Radiation Hazard" of this F18 Hornet on board the Nimitz. Later F18 Hornet is developed into F/A 18 Super Hornet with the easy recognized square shape intake rather than the F18 Hornet's round shape intake.
Nimitz's Fresnal landing system vs. Abraham Lincoln's one. This landing system does not change that much even though these 2 carriers were built 16 years apart.
