Wow, this is a great thread! I will view the others as well. My Grandfather was drafted in early 1915 and had to report to Thorn. He served in the 11th Foot Artillery Regiment (1st West Prussian), and was discharged in 1919.

One day I hope to visit the Festung.

Be sure to have some 15 days for that! All Thorn is surrounded by remains of Forts, shelters, bunkers etc. Many, many fun is out there

Very nice thread! If you visit the Thorn Festung you have to see the Fort XI with the original graffitis of the allied POWs!
Borzadow is right. You need a few days more to see the most parts of the Thorn Festung
