Default Ss jul corner tapestries - modern production

BUYER BEWARE.

Just a helpful thread to my fellow collectors to document once and for all that these tapestries have been produced post-ww2. They are of a high quality in manufacture and very beautiful but if you see one for sale, be sure that you know what you are buying is what you want. If modern, the selling price should reflect this!

There are still originals to be purchased out there of course, you just have to know what to look for.

Some argue and dispute that these were post-war produced. I have the whole catalog and can check a design for you if you encounter one.

Many high-end collectors have been fooled and have them in their collections.

Everyone who bought a "HeimatWerk" rug would do well to look into this catalog.

Lets start comparing rugs.

Somewhere way back Robin Lumsden posted his new rug from thorsten...cant find it yet, but when I do we will compare it.
And the one I got from him

Is this a "catalog" of a modern manufacturer?

if so who are they and are they still in business let us see all the details

There does seem to be a LOT of these tapestries about.

And a reminder to all Keep it about the items not individuals

Gary,

Its a catalogue from the 80's of the Art Weaving (Kunstweberei) company of Fritz Bremer which was in business from 1909-2000.

Hi,

Capt. R, is it possible to confirm which tapestries posted on the never-ending thread were produced by the company of Fritz Bremer ?

Really great work for sure !

See You

Vince

Thanks for the additional info.I have number 1210 ''Lebensbaum''. Still like the design, but it seems that it was not a period piece. Are there older catalogues known that show the same company/production style?

Don,

I think it would be great if you could share the whole catalogue with us since most of us - including me - have not seen it yet.

there are so many things I could say right now but I will not. I will keep it professional.

Do your own research. Go find your own catalog.

See You

Vince
Vince...."the neverending thread" is pretty good term I prefer "the black hole of the red-headed step child of SS collecting known as SS cultural items"

To compare those rugs/tapestries/teppich/HeimatWerk rugs-comfy pillows-what-have-you ....I believe that We (ourselves) will have to do the work to find them (I spent an hour last night trying to find Robin's -cant find it yet), and then present them on this thread for Capt R. to show comparisons.

.
Don,
this is the example I got from thorsten in 2008.
He described it as an "original handwoven example from the Deutsches Heimatwerk"

Unfortunately for me, it looks to be exactly as the version you already showed us from the modern era catalog, being a #1210 Lebensbaum B .

What do you think?

Default Rug thorsten sold to Robin lumsden

Here is the Heimatwerk rug Thorsten sold Robin Lumsden. Robin shared it on WAF back when he first got it...
To my eye it may also be a modern era #1210 Lebensbaum B.
It may explain why these two rugs look to be in fairly excellent condition.

Robin cant post at this website anymore-so we cant wait for his input.

Robin used to defend thorsten back in the old days, like I did once, but he may change his mind now.
