Default Type 1 Tropenhelm for your review

DSCN0562.jpg

DSCN0564.jpgHello All! I am posting pics of my latest aquisition and would value your opinions on it. As you can see, it is a Type 1 Tropenhelm. It is a large size, 59. Has the "Made in Germany" stamp and is by the maker "Keller & Co".

I know the "Made in Germany" stamp indicates it was sold post war. I love the fact that it has a very salty look but still maintains a tight smooth look.

Only one set of holes for the shields and one pin on the Wehrmacht shield is coming loose. The Chin strap has a crack in it but is still intact though dry and rigid.
The price was a little low in my opinion but I am pleased with it.

I do value input from all,
Thanks, Jeff

Absolutely no problems with that one at all, I love these 'Made In Germany' examples and have one in my own collection that shows a very similar amount of wear.
Mark.

The tropenhelm looks fine, though less desirable to many because of the "Made in Germany" stamp, IMO. Can you post close up pics of the shields please?

Thanks.

Jerry

Thanks Jerry and Mark. Here are a couple of shots of the shields. You should be able to zoom in pretty close.
For my own knowledge improvement, could you give more info on the story behind the "made in Germany"? I know the basics but I am interested in more info.

Thanks,
Jeff

The 'Made in Germany' stamp was an import requirement back in the late 40's/early 50's when a batch of these helmets were shipped into the States to be sold by mail order in the back of gun magazines and the like. Mark.
