Lee,
The early liners that you mention don't have a felt strip. They have a thin rubber cushion that is enclosed in a khaki cotton cover.
Regards,
Steve
P.S. Your helmet has this rubber cushion.

Thanks Steve for this bit of info, I bet I'm not the only one who didn't know this.
So Jack are there new holes drilled in the aluminium band to refit the liner?
Cheers, Luc

Hiya Luc,
I can't see where any new holes have been drilled - it all looks untouched - like it's been in the same place.
Jack.

Thanks Jack, so the absence of felt is original and the liner has not been reassembled.
Anyone has an explanation why the liner is mounted "backwards"? Or has anyone perhaps seen or better handled similar examples?
Luc

These were made by Dickie Knight. I had a pair and wore them for ten years at events. Converted 49 patterns.
Cheers, Ade.

Chevrons are ok, the rest of the insignia are fakes. I'm not sure about Rego blouses, there are at least fake Rego labels but it could be that Rego is a fantasy manufacturer altogether.

Hi Guy,
Thanks for the info, what is your opinion on the blouse itself then?
@ Ade, I've converted a pair of P'49 trousers to P'40 myself. A lot of work and it certainly looks pretty good but you will always see where the second rear pocket has been taken off. In this case it looks different.

The Bd seems ok but haven't really looked to be honest. Was put off by the comedic insignia.
Yours, Guy.

Just had another look at the bd and It looks good. Early unlined collar and 39 dated. I might have a go at It just for the parts.
Yours, Guy.
