So is it genuine ? The bidding suggests it is.

The insigna look original to me. But if the insigna match the wear of the jacket it would need a close hand inspection, although it could be original on it in my opinion when i see the pictures. The beret is OK to, but with the insigna the same as the jacket. Whitout proof i realy cant say that the insigna are on the jacket since WW2.
I think its a very nice grouping and i like it a lot. Oxf&Bucks is a very "hot" collecting area. I think this will not be the final price.

I don`t know exactly the date but AB strips were forbidden to wear after the autum of 44. I even mean the "rule" was given right after D-Day but it was to quick to give the order to all troops to remove it.
So its more common to see a "best dress" like this than with a AB strip.
It`s only odd that he has 4 service cevrons and has only the 39-40 star and the France and Germany Star.

Perhaps he's only done 4 years service, as for medal ribbons, I've had BD with all different ribbons, some with everything, some with none, it depends at what date the soldier was discharged.
I will admit that I maybe a little biased on this one though as its me that's selling it. I have examined it very carefully and cannot fault it. I often come across oddities on BD that do not always make sense and sometimes against regs but usually they are totally original, that's just how the soldier wore it. If you look at period photos you can often see insignia being worn differently even within the same unit. Fell free to ask any questions about, also I would point out that I am happy to guarantee this set, and any of the other BD from my collection of nearly 200, some of which I will be selling soon.
Its also interesting to note that this is the first mention of the O&B on the forum after almost a week although several members are bidding on it so they must think its ok.

Hello Lee,
I dont say its not good, so please dont be offended. I like the grouping.
I only got 3 original mounted BD`s. I like to see some off yours, must be very rare ones between them.

Hi Jeroen
No offence taken, I am trying to get a lot of my BD photographed so maybe I'll start a new thread. I have some quite unusual ones but many are just standard infantry and corps.

All depends on weather he was a pre war soldier or enlisted later possibly finished in 1946 Steve make a good point on the Airborne strip although regulations regarding the wear of insignia wasnt always followed.
