Hi,Terry
Thanks for the heads up on"the time of young soldiers" by richter
Just ordered a first edition for only $12.00.never heard of that one before.
How did you find:"Hans from Cologne Germany to Venice Florida " ---Herbert Schellenberger ??
It took me along time to find a copy of that one!

hi mate ," the time of the young soldiers " is probably best for the anecdotes and vignettes of army life , there is virtually no combat description , hans from cologne i noticed on American amazon but wouldn t post to UK, fortunately a great American member here bought it for me then shipped it to UK ,

well i enjoyed it Josh , i think he talks up the Germans knowledge of the Canadians ( he settled in Canada after the war ) also some of the descriptions of background historical events away from the memoirs i found tedious as i am so familiar with them , but definitely worth a read

Damn- MORE titles I have yet to find.
When posting the new titles, wondering if you could post a 1 sentence description, ie: tank soldier on Eastern/Western fronts......Pilot shot down and captured in Poland etc.?
I just finished reading A Lamb to Slaughter....review to follow (when I get back from holidays)

Terry I read this and it's not that good. Not much action and frontline stuff. The author had a lot of angst and there's some sexual misconduct with a comrade in the foxhole. He also talks a lot about his life postwar, which includes a time when he lives with a young boy who survived the holocaust.
If you want historical first person view of historical frontline experiences, this is NOT the book.
