Default Late war visor's cap

Dear fellow collectors,

I need some assistance from collectors who are specialist in German WWII visor caps.

It is true that late war caps are normally featuring these details?

No side lining (see pictures)
Late war lacquered Ersatz type sweatband (see pictures)
Pressed paper type bill rather then the Vulcan fiber bill

Some examples of a probably late war cap sold by a dealer as such:

Is it safe to say that late war caps are rare than early war or pre-war cap? Would you pay more for a late war cap, just because of its rareness, especially if this is in very good conditions?

I am eager to know your comments on this subject. Many thanks in advance for your kind replies!

Ciao,

Claudio

Default late war paper press sweatband

hi,

Visor with Paper Press sweatband doesn't mean is a late war vision. I have a 1936 model of the Allgemeine SS Officer's Visor cap. It has Paper press sweatband inside.

regards
kenneth

Good morning Claudio. This type of cap was not necessarily a 'late war' production! Quite the contrary, it's a well known early to mid-war method of hat production ( the maker escapes me ) and commonly seen. I'm sure it was a cost/production decision to eliminate the the front and side linings. Again because of costs/profits etc., the visors and sweatbands were of 'pressed paper' and other cheap materials. We see this even in the very early Party visors.
The question of value is up to the collector, ie a type he/she does not have etc. I have seen (over the years) people by-pass these makes just because of the odd look and cheap feel.
Botton line is that these are good hats and most commonly found as EM and Police visors!
