Oh, I am knowing this site, I am registred there as "Hoover", too.

But I forget the link, now I can search there again.

I am going to buy a second deact G1 "c" but have to look for all the parts.

Is the book "The FAL Story" worth the 99 €??

The lug is for an early M1, M2 and Israeli series FALs.

The close up on the receiver indicated it was a issued BW model "c" Gewehr.
The G1 issued to the BGS has a suffix letter "C" after the serial number.

This is a restored G1 auf "c" of the 100,000 BW production series with an early wood stock & pistol grip

I will post pictures of the early BGS when completed
Redleg - That is one outstanding example of the "Free World's Right Arm" and I thank you for sharing so freely of your knowledge.

I can't wait to see how the BGS version turns out.

What is the availability of an original sling? Are there any markings we should be aware of? Can you confirm that the G1 bayonets that occasionally pop-up in Shotgun News are of Turkish manufacture?

Thanks again - TJ

TJ: The sling used on the G1s both BGS and BW, all models was the 1930 model Vz24 Mauser leather sling in brown/ tan, with the leather German cross patch pattern. Used Vz24 slings may still be available from Liberty Tree.

Also, the rather crude bayonet you see advertised as G1 are in fact all Turkish manufacture.

In this training film the Bw soldiers are using G1 with wooden front handles like the BGS.

Something very new to me. Minutes 0.25 - 0.29

I think in the BW film the troops may be early BGS as they still are employing the American helmet. The gewehr's are the FN manufactured G1 Model "a" with the H&R designed T48 type wood handguards and about only 2000 were produced for field trials with the BGS. There is no record that I know indicating the BW was issued with the G1 Model "a" FAL, but with the global distribution of various configuration FALs you can never say anything is absolute.

Also in the series of G1 models, all gewehrs were completely manufactured by FN and none by German manufacturers. The only metal part manufactured by Germany was the later replacement spring retainer/locking flash hider.

Top: FN manufactured flash hider.
Lower: German manufactured flash hider.

Many thanky for these informations.

I admit that the G1 is a very neglected part of the early Bw by me.

So any informations is highly recommended.
