My new cased 1st pattern S&L RK
I have been spending way too much lately ( ), as it seems I've become addicted to early pieces ....
Recently, I was able to get my hands on another lovely cased 1st pattern S&L RK.
As usual, looking forward to your comments and input .
Grtz.
Mathijs

The only minor point ( IMHO ) is the thick coat of paint the core has received after assembly. The core details & dates are not so outspoken as I was hoping for.

As to determine the type of frame ... David said to check for the so called "dent row" on the 3 o'clock arm ... I assume he means this flaw = "B" Frame ?

Mathijs
I am afraid that the last layer of paint was not applied by the original manufacturer.

Hi Mathijs!! Well, its a great S & L 1st pattern RK, i was going to ask about the paint, but Peter has already answered my question!
I wonder why the core has been repainted?? I cant tell from the pics, has the paint caught the edge of the beading too?
Apart from the 2nd coat of paint, its a great cross, it depends if you are happy with it, as i dont think theres anyway now to undo the paint job
The case looks to be a nice original too!!
Was the re-paint reflected in the price, because it will de-value it, if you ever want to resell it, but its still a nice cross, just a shame about the paint!!
-Nigel

I saw the pix and knew about the thick coat of paint before buying ... I think its not that bad.
Pricewize ... I did pay premium for it, but still well below dealer prices . Important is that I'm really pleased with this RK being added to my current collection .
@ Nigel ... the inside beading has paint marks but its still quite ok. I shall not attempt to remove the additional coat of paint, as I do not wish to damage the core.
