Hi Joerg,

Nice Early U-boot.
But what happened to the swas. When looked upon from the reverse it looks like certainly the left upper arm isn't cut which would be uncommon for a Schwerin. Was the swas replaced in your opinion, impossible to tell from the pics you posted.

Hi Phillipe,

no, the swas is not replaced. All arms are cut out. It looks much better when you would hold it in your hands than on the photo. The photoflash makes it look strange.

Looks like some wet came down from the hinge and made the swas dark.
Best wishes

Joerg

Thumbs up Congratulations!

Joerg,

Beautiful badge! Obviously worn, do you have any history with it?

The best thing on these Schwerin badges is the incredible bright yellow gilding! Nothing compares to them IMO.

Hello friends,

thank you for your replies! There is no big story behind the Badge. I got it from a man who´s grandfather was in the Kriegsmarine. This Grandfather got the Badge from a friend who died in Lazarett to give it to the family. But when war was over he did not found anyone of the family. So he had it for many years until he died too. And so his grandson got the badge. Because he had no direct relation to this badge, he sold it.

The man I got badge from had also the tunic and a few badges from his grandfather, but he was not willing to sell them.

Best wishes

Joerg
