The Fuchi looks very crude. Post pics of the Habaki, the blade tip, the tang, and the handle wrapping - all very weak points in Chinese copies. From what I can see of the blade, the geometry looks good. Some WW2 stuff used the type of same this one has, and crude cast fittings do show up on low-grade originals.

Now that I see the additional pics, I would say it is a WW2 original with low grade fittings.

Tsuba/Crossguard looks repainted at least, as does the pommel, late war sword with canvas instead of same under the wrap, and a stamped out menuki fitting, interesting sword but perhaps touched up a bit.

All the fittings look original and untouched to me, and the same under the hilt is low grade, but not canvas.

Yep I was wrong, either low grade same or shark, but the pommel is the wrong color and has remnants of the correct color, as well as possible white paint from touching up the same,,,might be photo or flash on that though.

as stated the fittings are very low grade, could be cloth but might be shgreen...snake skin...but doubt it. only the blade will tell. pix that have been asked for need to be shown. Tip any activy in the steel. please remove all fittings when you show the tang.

It looks genuine to me. A late war low quality shingunto.
Its shark skin under the ito.

Any and all opinons are welcome. I finally got to examine the sword in person. That "stuff" under the wrap appears to be some form of skin to me, so I can believe the shark skin.

I've got the chance to buy or trade for this, but wanted as much input as possible before throwing away my money.
